Before you leave

Let Haverhill Bank know when and where you will be traveling to avoid account holds or transaction rejections when out-of-the-ordinary transactions are presented for processing or posted. This can be done within online banking, in the Haverhill Bank mobile app or by calling the Bank at (978) 374-0161. Transactions that originate outside of the United States are generally allowed; however, due to fraud, transactions from some countries are blocked. Restricted/Blocked Countries

Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cote D’Ivoire, Croatia, Cuba, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Korea, Liberia, Malaysia, Macedonia, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia & Montenegro, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Turkey, Vietnam, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Malta, Trinidad & Tobago, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Please be aware that at any time Haverhill Bank may find it necessary to add countries to this list.

Check your balance before you leave and know the limits on how much you can spend or withdraw.

If you’re traveling overseas, keep in mind that ATMs in many countries only accept four-digit personal identification numbers (PINs) and some countries have keyboards with numbers only, while others do not acknowledge zeros. Contact Haverhill Bank if you want to create a new PIN for your account before you take your trip.

Set up transaction alerts. This will allow you to be informed much faster of any transactions that occur on your accounts. Simply log into Online Banking or Haverhill Bank’s mobile app and select the type of alerts you would like to receive.

While you are traveling

Carry a back-up card that you keep in a separate place. Families or couples may get even greater back-up coverage if each person takes a different card.

Thoroughly check any ATMs that you use; fraudsters are increasingly altering the facades of ATMs in an effort to capture card data. Ensure the card reader does not look tampered with and pull on it to ensure it does not have a fraudulent device attached to it.

Save all your receipts to compare to your statements.

Enable Fast Balances within Haverhill Bank’s mobile app. This feature will allow you to view your account balances and posted transactions quickly and easily, without having to log into Online Banking.

If you are a consumer or business account holder and are traveling outside the country, please call collect 701-461-1556.

Misplaced your card? Simply log into Online Banking or the Haverhill Bank mobile app and shut your card off. If you happen to find it, you can easily turn it back on. Learn more.
